POCC Reviews Proposals For Development At Riverwalk

Port Orange, FL - The Port Orange City Council (POCC) had six proposals from developers for the Riverwalk area to review for Tuesday night's regular meeting. The goal was to whittle the list down to four but council members agreed that every one of the companies that submitted a proposal should be invited to a special joint meeting of the POCC and the Town Center CRA on Tuesday, December 14.

District 4 council member Scott Stiltner shared his idea of what Riverwalk should be. "I may not be using the proper lingo in the industry but for me it's a things to do area, right? There's things to go and do, that's restaurants and entertainment and a bar extending out over the water, I mean, that's great, that's the kind of vision that people want to see."

Stiltner said that individually, there's not a project that doesn't have something to like about it. "I wasn't really expecting that. I thought, we're going to get six and I'll see two or three and go 'Those are the ones I want to hear from more.' This project, in my mind, this vision is in this packet, which in my mind, is really refreshing."

District 2 council member Chase Tramont said they are looking for something that would serve as a downtown area, which Port Orange has never had. "We felt that we would do the city justice by giving them all an opportunity to make a full presentation to the City Council, especially based on hearing the comments from the council and the very specific visualization of what we're looking for."
