1 Person Dead, 4 Injured In Crash When Vehicle Runs Red Light In Volusia

Volusia County, FL - 1 person is dead and 4 others were injured in a crash in Volusia County Friday evening.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred at 6:35 PM, Friday, April 28, at US-92 and Tomoka Farms Road.

Bethany Lavallee, 23, Orlando, was driving a 2009 Ford Focus westbound on US-92 and John Dye, 84, Mims, was driving a 2016 Dodge pickup truck northbound on Tomoka Farms Road.

Witnesses said that the Ford Focus driven by Lavallee ran a red light at the intersection and the front of Dye's pickup struck the left rear of Lavallee's vehicle.

1 passenger in Lavallee's vehicle, Frankie Gerena Pena, 37, DeLand, died in the crash. Lavallee and another passenger, Elizabeth Catala, 36, DeLand, sustained minor injuries.

Dye and his passenger, Stephen Dye, 58, Holly Hill, also sustained minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
