Ten people, some of them juveniles, have been charged and/or arrested in connection to what the Volusia Sheriff's Office is calling a 'mob attack' in De Leon Springs on Saturday. The investigation started off earlier in the week with scarce information, before the VSO announcing several suspects had been identified and apprehended.

According to Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood, a group of people were jumping in the back of a pickup truck at a party in Deltona. The truck's owner, Chitwood said, put the truck in drive and began moving to cause several people to fall off. He said the driver apparently thought of it as a joke. After this event, the gathering migrates to De Leon Springs, Chitwood said.

"At that portion of the bonfire party, a melee breaks out over the incident that occurred in Deltona," Chitwood said. "The driver of the truck and some other people, the four victims now, are brutally beaten. I have somebody who was hit with brass knuckles in the back of their head and ended up with four staples in their head. Somebody has a dislocated shoulder. Somebody else has a concussion. There's various injuries to the four people altogether."

Of the ten people Chitwood said were responsible for the beatings, six are adults and the remaining four are under 18 years old. The names identified are as follows, with applicable charges:

  • Dalton Bellantoni (20): aggravated battery, inciting a riot
  • Skylar Degroff (18): robbery, inciting a riot
  • Antonio Gardner (17): aggravated battery, inciting a riot
  • Dillon Harris (18): 3 counts of aggravated battery, 1 count of inciting a riot
  • Devon Heil (20): aggravated battery, inciting a riot
