Deltona, FL - Volusia County deputies are seeking the suspect of a hit and run crash that severely injured two people—one of whom is a pregnant woman.

A report says deputies were sent to Howland Boulevard and Forest Edge Drive in Deltona after the crash was reported around 11:20 Saturday night (Nov. 27). The preliminary investigation determined the victims were westbound on Howland in a green 2004 Ford Focus when a silver 2020 Kia Optima slammed into the back of their vehicle at a high speed.

The impact caused the victims’ vehicle to travel more than 300 feet before coming to rest. The driver of the Kia ran away from the scene and left the car behind. The suspect’s car was also found to be a rental. As of this writing there is no description of the suspect available.

The driver of the Ford, a pregnant woman, suffered serious injuries while her passenger, the father of her unborn child, suffered critical, life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach where the woman was listed in serious but stable condition. The male passenger was last reported to be in a critical and unstable condition.

Since the crash, deputies have worked throughout the weekend in an attempt to pursue leads and identify the wanted driver. Updates will be passed along as they are made available.

As always, if you have any information regarding the crash, you are asked to contact the Volusia Sheriff’s Office immediately.
