AAA: Gas Prices Dropping After 11-Cent Hike

Daytona Beach, FL - Gas prices are dropping slowly this week after a surprising increase last week. The Florida state average jumped by 11 cents last week, which was the biggest increase of any state in the country. Triple-A spokesperson Mark Jenkins said the increase was due to an increase in crude oil and gasoline futures prices last week.

Jenkins also said that Florida drivers are now paying an average of $2.52 for a gallon of regular gasoline. That average is nine cents more than a week ago and 24 cents per gallon more than last year at this time.

The highest gas prices for 2019 were recorded in April.

Prices in Volusia County are lower than the state average, ranging from $2.39 to $2.45 for a gallon of regular gasoline.
