Daytona Beach, FL - There's cause for celebration at AdventHealth as the hospital system announces they have successfully administered 250,000 COVID-19 vaccines.

“It’s a great achievement to reach that milestone,” said Dr. John Monson, a colorectal surgeon and executive medical director of digestive health and surgery during a Thursday (April 29) AdventHealth Morning Briefing.

Around 440 people remain hospitalized with COVID-19 across AdventHealth’s hospitals in Central Florida, a number that has “plateaued,” in recent weeks according to chief physician executive of the AdventHealth Institutes, Dr. Duane Davis.

“It’s vitally important that the community gets vaccinated to get us back to normal as quickly as possible,” Davis said.

The same day AdventHealth announced this achievement is the same day state health officials released a new report saying 8,740,620 people have been vaccinated for COVID-19 in Florida, which equates to a total of 14,271,699 doses.

That same report indicates that 6,073,726 people have completed their vaccine series. Of those 6 million individuals, 5,531,079 received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine while 542,647 completed the Pfizer or Moderna series.

Locally, 210,710 people have been vaccinated in Volusia County while 51,263 have been vaccinated in Flagler. 147,144 have completed their vaccine series in Volusia while 37,416 completed their series in Flagler.
