Daytona Beach, FL - All teachers and childcare workers throughout the State of Florida are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of their age.
Initially, vaccines were limited to just seniors over 65 in December until an executive order issued by Governor Ron DeSantis changed vaccine eligibility, allowing firefighters, law enforcement officers, and teachers over the age of 50 to be vaccinated. Now, Gov. DeSantis says that teachers and K-12 staff of any age can receive the vaccine at any federal vaccination site in the state.
In addition to the federal sites, Walmart, Publix, and CVS have also announced that they will vaccinate teachers and K-12 staff, regardless of age. You can find out more about vaccine and appointment availability below.
As of Thursday (March 4th), there are four federal vaccination sites in the state. They can be found in Orlando, Jacksonville, Tampa and Miami. Orlando's main site can be found at Valencia College, Jacksonville's at the Gateway Mall, Tampa's at the Larry Sands Sports Complex, and Miami's at Miami-Dade College's North Campus.
There are no appointments needed as the vaccines are handled on a first come, first served basis. There will be 2,000 vaccines available a day.
Per Walmart, there are four locations throughout Volusia County that are offering vaccinations. Those locations include Ormond Beach (Granada Blvd), DeLand (S. Woodland Blvd), Orange City (Veterans Memorial Pkwy), and Deltona (Saxon Blvd). At the moment, there are no Flagler County stores included in the vaccine distribution.

Starting at 7:00 a.m. on Friday (March 5th), eligible individuals will be able to schedule an appointment online to receive a vaccine through Publix as early as Monday (March 8th). At the moment, there is no list on which stores are offering vaccines. You can visit Publix's COVID-19 vaccine webpage to learn more about how to schedule an appointment and where the vaccine will be available.
According to CVS' webpage, all available appointments in Florida are booked up. However, eligible individuals can check back with their site to see when appointments will be available again. Their webpage also states that there are stores in Daytona Beach and Palm Coast distributing vaccines, but the webpage does not mention specific locations.
