Not that it'll make much difference to him, but Christopher Crouthamel was sentenced on Tuesday to 300 years in prison on child porn charges on top of an existing 100-year sentence for various other sex abuse convictions. The sentences run concurrently, meaning technically speaking he would be imprisoned for 300 total years, not 400, if human life expectancy allowed.
Crouthamel's Tuesday conviction and sentencing were the conclusion of a day-long trial for 20 counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child. He was convicted by the jury and then immediately sentenced to the maximum of 300 years by Circuit Judge Dennis Craig.
Prior to that, Crouthamel was charged in Volusia County with lewd/lascivious battery on a child between 12 and 16, two counts of traveling to meet a minor, two counts of possession of a sexual performance by a child, and two counts of soliciting a child or person believed to be a child for unlawful sexual contact using computer services or devices. His conviction and century-long sentence came last December.
"These sentences ensure that the defendant will never molest or abuse another child," said State Attorney R.J. Larizza on this newest sentencing. "I commend the jury, judge, and prosecutor for a job well done." He also acknowledged the City of Edgewater Police Department, Port Orange Police Department, and Marion County Sheriff's Office for helping investigate Crouthamel's crimes.
