Daytona Beach, FL - An Arizona man remains in custody with no bond after police say he traveled to Daytona Beach to "cause hell" at the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Police were made aware of the threat, which was made on social media, on June 27 after an anonymous call reported the post. The caller also identified the user as 31-year-old Kentay Thomas.

On July 5, Thomas announced on social media that he traveled to Daytona Beach and brought firearms with him. According to a police report, further investigation revealed that Thomas might be a member of the New Black Panther Party (NBBP) and the Not (expletive) Around Coalition (NFAC). Per investigators, both organizations carry "ideology of supporting violence and murder/attempted murder on a law enforcement officer," which was a catalyst in launching the investigation. Police, however, have not confirmed whether or not Thomas has actual ties to either of these groups.

That same day, officers found Thomas at a restaurant on International Speedway Boulevard and saw that Thomas could be armed, as police noticed an imprint on the back right side of his waistband, which could indicate a weapon. According to police, Thomas does not have a valid concealed carry license. He had one issued by the State of Arizona previously, but officers learned it was revoked just months after he received it in 2019.

Thomas was arrested the next day. During a search following his arrest, police found Thomas with a black duffel bag, a black hard plastic rifle case, a gray hard plastic suitcase, and a black satchel. Police also found a loaded handgun with a holster under his waistband, and around 2.5 grams of marijuana inside the black satchel.

Thomas currently remains in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail, charged with carrying a concealed firearm. He was denied bond at his first appearance in court.
