Bad Weather Causes Rescheduling Of Thursday's Volusia County COVID-19 Vaccine Events

UPDATE: February 17 - Volusia County Emergency Management says they are adding this Friday's (February 19) two COVID-19 events to the cancelation schedule. Those next in line for the first dose of the vaccine will now be scheduled for an appointment Feb. 23, 25 or 26.

The second dose event scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 18 has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 23.The second dose event scheduled for Friday, Feb. 19 has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 27. These appointments were scheduled through Eventbrite and residents will receive an email notification from Eventbrite to confirm the new date.

This revised schedule will include increased appointments each day next week, ensuring that vaccine allocations for both this week and next week are distributed by week’s end. In total, more than 10,000 vaccines—3,700 first dose and 6,500 second dose—will be administered at the Volusia County Fairgrounds site next week.

DeLand, FL - Bad weather has been affecting the rest of the country and now it's affecting two COVID-19 vaccine events scheduled this Thursday, February 18, at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. The delay comes after the winter storms that have crippled much of the U.S.

According to a press release from Volusia County, both the first dose event and the second one are rescheduled.

-The first dose clinic scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 18 at the Volusia County Fairgrounds in DeLand has been re-scheduled for Monday, Feb. 22. For residents who were scheduled to receive their first dose on Feb. 18, the state’s registration platform, Sharecare, will contact them to confirm the new date. While the first dose clinics have transitioned to walk-up, or indoor events, pre-registration and appointments are still required.
