Bethune-Cookman University President Resigns

Daytona Beach, FL - According to a news release from the school's board of trustees, Bethune-Cookman University President Dr. E. LaBrent Chrite has resigned, and the board does not know why.

The board also did not state when the resignation goes into effect, and who the interim president will be.

Dr. Chrite—the school's seventh president—came to Bethune-Cookman University in July 2019, following the departure of interim president Hubert Grimes, who filled the spot after Dr. Edison O. Jackson's departure from the school.

Before coming to Bethune, Dr. Chrite served as the dean at the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business. Before that, Dr. Chrite was the dean at Montclair State University in New Jersey and held leadership positions at the University of Arizona-Tucson and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.

We will pass along updates as they become available.
