DeLand, FL - Volusia County’s Community Assistance Division is asking the 536 residents on the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program waiting list to be on the lookout for re-application status verification forms being sent out next week Monday, March 1, 2021.

The deadline to complete the form and return it to Community Assistance is March 31, 2021. If you don't meet the deadline, you will be removed from the waiting list.

Preference will be given to individuals/families with a disabled adult who is homeless or at risk of being homeless. If your household meets the previously stated criteria please submit documentation (i.e. benefit award from Social Security Administration or documentation from a medical professional).

Contact staff at 386-736-5955 or Section8wl@volusia.org.

New Section 8 applications are not being accepted at this time.

The Volusia County’s Community Assistance Division is also accepting pre-applications by referral from local nonprofits and government entities for the federally funded Mainstream Voucher Program beginning March 1.

The program is limited to 12 months of assistance and only non-elderly individuals and families with disabilities who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless can qualify.

To qualify, individuals and families must provide supportive documentation of age and disability.
