Church Service On Sunday To Raise Money For B-CU Scholarship Fund

Daytona Beach, FL - A Daytona Beach church pastor says it's "on his heart" to hold a special service this Sunday for Bethune-Cookman University's need-based scholarship fund this coming Sunday. Pastor Wendell Webster of Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church said that the University is very sacred to the community and it's really important to him and members of his church to do something to help.

The special service places an emphasis on the church's motto: "Servants of God, Serving the People of God." Pastor Webster says the service is for all who want to help the university by making donations. All funds received will go only to students in need. The goal of the effort is to receive donations of $200 from those that can afford it…but Pastor Webster said that no donation is too small or too large.

The special service takes place this Sunday, August 25, at the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, located at 449 S. Martin Luther King Boulevard. The special service begins at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested and there will be a repast after the worship and prayer for young adults.

If you'd like to donate, make your check out to Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church and specify that the funds are for the BC-U Scholarship Fund. Those with questions are welcome to contact Pastor Webster at 386-252-2412 or BC-U Fund Raiser Volunteer Fred Beneby at 386-882-8401.
