Holly Hill, FL - A corrections officer was arrested by deputies after investigators found out he molested a young girl.
Detectives say the sexual abuse allegations against 35-year-old Anthony Checchi, who works at Tomoka Correctional Institution, began to surface in late May. According to investigators, Checchi was also no stranger to the juvenile victim.
Checchi was arrested yesterday afternoon (June 9th) in the parking lot of the Holly Hill Walmart Neighborhood Market. He was charged with lewd and lascivious molestation on a child.
The Volusia Sheriff's Office reports that Checchi remains in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail on a $25,000 bond.
