DeLand, FL - According to the council chair, Volusia County District 5 Representative Fred Lowry is currently hospitalized as he battles COVID-19.
Volusia County Chair Jeff Brower made the announcement following the roll call during Tuesday's (September 7) regularly scheduled county council meeting. According to Brower, Lowry has been sick for almost a month.
"Obviously, for those of you that are here, and listening, that didn't hear Fred Lowry say here, he is not here today. He is in the hospital, wrestling with COVID-19," said Brower. "I think it's been about three weeks now, so. Fred will be in our prayers and we'll look forward to his return."
Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry reacted to the news of Lowry's hospitalization online through Facebook.
"I am praying for Volusia County Councilman Fred Lowry who is 'in the hospital wrestling with COVID-19,'" said Mayor Henry.
