Deltona, FL - A vehicle out of control kills a Deltona woman and seriously injures the male driver.

The car lost control around 11:30 Saturday night (May 7) and crossed over a raised median before crashing into a tree at a home on Providence Boulevard, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say the pair—identified as Megan Tapp and Carlos Palmer—were driving north on Providence Boulevard, near the intersection of Fergason Avenue when they crashed.

Investigators say the driver, Palmer, lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the median, then landed in the southbound lane. The vehicle continued across the road, then left the roadway and struck a fence before crashing into a tree.

Tapp, the vehicle’s registered owner, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Palmer suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital where he continues to recover. His condition as of Monday (May 9) was not known.

The crash is under investigation. We will pass along updates as they are made available.
