Daytona Beach, FL - After more than 40 years of service as a professional city manager, the last 17 with the city of Daytona Beach, James Chisholm attended his final meeting with the Daytona Beach City Commission last night (May 19).

From his codb.us page:

Mr. Chisholm, a native Floridian, began his management career in 1974 as the assistant county administrator of Leon County, Florida. From 1982 until 2004, he worked as a county administrator for St. Lucie and Desoto counties and as city manager in St. Cloud, South Padre Island, Texas, and Islamorada Village of Islands, Florida. In 2007, the International City / County Management Association (ICMA) recognized him for his 30 years of service as a professional city manager.

In a conversation with News Daytona Beach, Chisholm shared some of his accomplishments, saying he's "had a good run at being city manager of Daytona Beach." "Certainly, something that was exciting for me to have been able to do the things and bring to the city substantial improvements, was rewarding to me as a manager. I think the community appreciates most of the things we did. "

From codb.us: Major accomplishments between 2004 and 2021.

With new city manager Deric Feacher scheduled to take the reins on June 1, Chisholm said he plans the usual things like traveling and spending time with family but he has plans for the future. "I do plan  to come back and probably open a consulting business that will assist others in achieving their goals and meeting with cities and counties, when necessary on projects or problems they may encounter when dealing with government."
