Daytona Beach Officer Hospitalized With COVID-19 Dies

First DBPD officer to lose life due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, says department

Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Beach Police Department says 37-year-old Officer Adam Webb, an 8-year veteran of the department, has died after he was hospitalized for COVID-19.

A release from the department says Webb died at 11:29 Wednesday (September 1) morning with his wife at his side at AdventHealth Palm Coast.

“It is with an extremely heavy heart that we bring this news to the Daytona Beach community,” said Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young. “Please keep Officer Webb’s family in your thoughts and prayers. Adam was a valued member of our police department and he will be missed by everyone here.”

Officer Webb was first hired at DBPD on November 18, 2012 as a part-time reserve officer. Webb became a full-time officer on December 14, 2014 and had been with DBPD ever since. He had no prior law enforcement experience. His last job assignment was as a Field Training Officer with Alpha Platoon.

Funeral arrangements for Officer Webb have not been set at this time. A GoFundMe page for Officer Webb was set up by members of DBPD to assist his family with medical expenses prior to his passing.
