Daytona Beach Pier Reopens For Fishing

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - If you’ve been waiting for the fishing section to reopen at the Daytona Beach Pier, the waiting is over. Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry posted yesterday on social media that the pier is now open.

The pier has been shut down for fishing since September 2019, when Hurricane Dorian did a lot of damage to it. Cross bracing and decking have been repaired or replaced and supportive “collars” have been installed on piles tinder the pier’s east end.

The combined cost of the repairs comes to a bit more than $1.1 million. Fishing on the pier is still free and a fishing license is not required. Find out more on the city’s website, codb.us.
