Daytona Beach Truck Driver Involved In SunRail Crash

Posted

Orlando, FL - A 54-year-old Daytona Beach man driving a semi hauling a forklift on a trailer, was hit by a SunRail train, not far from the Meadow Woods station around 6:40 a.m. today.

A Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) crash investigator reports that the truck was traveling westbound on Wetherbee Road before Orange Avenue. As he was crossing the tracks, another vehicle cut in front of the semi, preventing it from clearing the tracks. Because the crossing arms were already activated, the truck was not able to move forward. The right, front of the train struck the trailer portion of the truck. Debris from the crash hit two SUVs stopped for the train on the eastbound side of the road. No one was injured.

At this time, there's no information available on the driver who cut the semi off. This crash remains under investigation.
