Daytona Beach Utility Customers Getting "Stimulus Adjustment"

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - If you live in the city of Daytona Beach, you should see a credit on your next monthly utility bill. The credit reflects financial assistance as part of the city's CARE (COVID-19 Assistance Recovery Effort) Program.

The first of four mailing cycles of utility bills were sent to more than 37-hundred customers in the area north of Mason Avenue between Ridgewood Avenue and Williamson Boulevard.  You'll see the code "STIMULUS ADJUSTMENT" on your bill, noting the credit and the CARE information. Specifically, a credit will be shown for the amount of water, sewer, recycling and public service tax. Not included in the credit will be fees associated with stormwater, solid waste and the landfill.

The Daytona Beach City Commission approved the CARE program during their March 24 meeting in order to give immediate financial relief to Daytona Beach residents and business owners affected by COVID-19.

The reduction in utility bills for almost 23,000  utility accounts is just one of the three incentives in the city's CARE program.

The second part of the CARE program is the suspension of buildings permits for 90 days. This doesn't include impact fee payments and it doesn't mean you don't need to pull a permit.  It mans you won't have to pay for the permit. All residential and commercial permits for projects will be included for anything from fences, roofs and swimming pools to construction of new homes and commercial buildings.

The third incentive is the waiving of commercial tenants' rent at city-owned facilities such as Joe’s Crab Shack at the Daytona Beach Pier, Jackie Robinson Ballpark, the Golf Club’s restaurant, tenants at the Marina Plaza, etc. for up to 90 days.
