Daytona Beach, FL - A 29-year-old Daytona Beach man remains in Volusia County Jail after they were accused of biting and bruising their four-year-old daughter.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office says that the Department of Children and Families was first made aware of the child's injuries back in March. That's after their pediatrician reported bruising in various stages all over the right side of her face to her neck, and down her shoulder and arm.

The pediatrician also reports that they were told the child suffered the injuries from playing and that they have a blood disorder. But, they stated the injuries were not consistent to that explanation. DCF observed the child after the original allegations were made, but, by the time they met with her the bruises and marks were already faded.

Then, on Monday (May 4th), the child was seen by a child protection team, who noted that the child had bruising to her forehead, cheeks, ear, abdomen and back, along with multiple bite marks on her back and bruising on their nipples.

The report states that they received a 'work-up' by her preferred medical care provider for blood disorders which provided normal results. Despite what they were told, the amount and location of injuries sustained was not consistent with injuries resulting during normal childhood play. Therefore, DCF chose to develop a safety plan moving forward for the children during the investigation.

The next day (May 5th), investigators met with the girl's father, Victor Comfort, who stated he was playing with them few days prior, and that he was tickling and play biting her. Comfort further stated that while he was biting them, they jumped from being tickled and smacked into his mouth. The child did not display any signs of being injured or hurt, and did not have any physical marks at that time, per the report.

Due to the statements that were made and the injuries that were observed, Comfort was placed under arrest for child abuse. He was booked the same day and remains in custody with no bond.
