69-year-old Richard Wilson was arrested this past weekend after allegedly threatening to carry out a bombing at Halifax Medical Center, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department. As of Thursday he's still being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on $50,000 bond.
According to police, Wilson was agitated after being admitted to the hospital and began taking his frustration out on the employees. This culminated in a reported threat to blow the facility up and send debris hundreds of feet off of the ground,
The threat was said to have unfolded further, with Wilson reportedly telling an employee not to come in to work the following week for their own safety. He apparently used racial slurs and said he had a team of some sort who'd help him carry out the attack.
The alleged remarks drew a large police response, to the degree that it caused delays in other calls that the DBPD had received around the same time. Wilson was later restrained by police and given a sedative in order to calm him down.
Wilson, a Daytona Beach resident, was arrested and charged with making a false report of a bombing and booked into jail that day. He remains there as of Thursday.
