Daytona Beach, FL - It's not lions and tigers and bears. It will actually be snakes and lizards and bearded dragons.
That's what visitors and residents can expect when arriving at Daytona Beach International Airport Thursday morning (February 6th). All of it is a part of what they call "Wildlife Festival on the Fly," which is they're own small scale version of another wildlife festival on the way this weekend.
Joanne Magley, Director of Marketing and Customer Experience at DBIA, told News Daytona Beach that they're happy they can help cross promote just one of the many services offered by Volusia County.
"We thought well what a better way to promote their festival than by giving people a little sneak peek of what they'll experience," said Magley.
The event at DBIA will feature an interactive experience featuing staff from the Lyonia Environmental Center, along with "live animal ambassadors." Those ambassadors include both native and non-native snakes, a skink lizard and a bearded dragon. While there, they will explain more about the animals and the kind of services they offer at the LEC.
The actual Wildlife Festival takes place this Saturday (February 8th) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the LEC, found off of Eustace Avenue in Deltona. The festival will feature Florida wildlife presentations, environmental displays, kids activities and guided hikes with eco-buggy tours of the Lyonia Preserve. An early bird hike will also kick off the day at 8 p.m.
