DBPD Offering Vacation Home Checks

They'll Check Your Home While You're Away

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - The Daytona Beach Police Department is offering to keep an eye on your home if you’ll be gone for an extended period of time. While you’re away, your home will be checked periodically, including a physical and visual inspection of the perimeter and of the doors and windows of the home. These checks don’t guarantee that no crimes will take place but they can provide you with additional peace of mind.

Please call (386) 671-5364 and provide your address, the dates you'll be gone and your contact information in case of an emergency. You can also send an email to Officer Courtland Lampe

Tips for when you're away:

  • Use timers on lights, radios and televisions
  • Arrange for your lawn to be cared for in your absence
  • Have someone you trust pick up your mail and newspapers or have delivery suspended until you're back
  • Make sure that your doors are securely locked
  • Leave a key with someone you trust. Never hide a key on your property
  • If you choose to have someone care for your home while you're away, make sure they know how to contact you in case of an emergency
