Officers responded to the Icon One Apartments inside One Daytona at about 10 p.m. last night (December 17). Dispatch was told that two men were arguing with each other in a parking lot off of Legends Lane and that one of the men threatened to "stab someone" if law enforcement showed up.

As officers were assessing the situation, they noticed that one man, identified as Mansilla, had a sharp object in his hand. He charged toward the officers with the object in his hand, despite commands to stop and Taser deployment. Two officers pulled their service firearms and shot Mansilla. He was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

The officers are on paid administrative leave as the shooting is investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
