UPDATE 10-29-19: Messod Bendayan, Public Information Officer for DBPD, says that the supposed pipe bomb was actually a magazine tightly wrapped around pencils, which gave it a cylindrical shape.
Bendayan also confirmed that the student is in custody and could likely face charges.
No threat to the school was made by the student that the police are aware of.

Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach Police Department has confirmed that a student at Mainland High School brought a fake pipe bomb onto the school's campus in his backpack.
The student showed the fake device to another student.
The student who saw the device then reported the incident to the School's Resource Officer, who confiscated the backpack. Police also say that there is no history of threats on the student's social media.
