DBPD Working To Identify Human Remains

UPDATE (January  31) -  The identity of the remains found in Grand Preserve is 39-year-old  Brian Lee Grupe. He lived at 232 Dahoon Holly Drive, not far from where he was found. DBPD says this incident is not being treated as a suspicious death.

UPDATE:  The identity of the body found last week in Grand Preserve is known, according to Public Information Officer Messod Bendayan. He also said there are no other details or the person's ID to share at this time.

Daytona Beach, FL - Daytona Beach Police investigators are working to identify human remains found last week in the Grand Preserve subdivision.

Officers responded on Thursday, January 23, after two men hired to survey the property off of LPGA Boulevard called to treport what they’d found.

Due to the decomposition of the body, the person has not yet been identified. It’s believed that the person has been dead for about a month. It's not certain at this point if the death is suspicious. 

A hard hat and a safety vest were found with the body.
