Daytona Beach, FL - Investigators with Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a crash that killed one Volusia man and injured another.
Troopers say that 72-year-old Janice Van Blaricom and 66-year-old James Martin were traveling northbound on Tomoka Farms Road approaching HL Ainsley Drive close to 5:15 yesterday afternoon (February 18th).
As they traveled north, 39-year-old Marcus Breihan traveled south while on the northbound side of Tomoka Farms Road. As Breihan approached the other drivers, Blaricom swerved to the right to avoid him. Breihan struck her on the left side of her vehicle before hitting Martin head-on.
According to the report, Martin suffered serious injuries while Breihan was killed as a result of the accident. The report does not say exactly when Breihan died. Blaricom was the only driver not injured as a result of the accident.
FHP confirms that the crash remains under investigation while they work to find out why Breihan was on the wrong side of the road.
