DeLand, FL - The DeLand Police Department is charging 21-year-old Hunter McGowan with shooting and damaging three vehicles in the parking lot of the College Arms Towers on January 26.

Detectives working the shooting case have spoken to McGowan and other members of his family during the more than six-month-long investigation. According to the incident report from the date of the arrest, August 16, police identified the vehicle involved in the shootings as belonging to McGowan fairly quickly.

Also in the arrest report was mention of McGowan's idea that the CIA and FBI were controlling his mind. His mother and father expressed concerns that their son, Hunter, is dangerous and worries that he could hurt people or himself.

The arrest report does not state why it took more than six months to make the arrest. McGowan is charged with discharging a firearm from a vehicle and criminal mischief of $1,000 or more. He remains in the Volusia County Jail on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled for arraignment on September 11.
