DeLand, FL - DeLand Police are asking for information on a shooting incident that happened  Sunday evening in the 500 block of East Kentucky Avenue. Three police officers responded to reports of a fight and a woman threatening to use a gun. Several shots were fired while police were on scene.

Police Chief Jason Umberger said it's unclear at this time whether the shots were fired at the officers or at someone else.  “In reviewing this incident with the Bureau Captain who spoke to the officers involved they were not entirely sure that the shots that they heard were directed toward them.  Obviously, discharging a firearm inside the city limits in proximity to people is dangerous and the three gunshots and the sound of  bullets going through the trees above where some of our officers were standing were heard which placed them in proximity to being struck by bullets.  It should be noted from the reports that just prior to the shots being fired officers heard a verbal altercation/argument  between at least two people in the vicinity from where the shots were believed to have originated from."

No one was injured during the shooting and there are no credible leads or information as to who fired the shots . Anyone with information should contact the DeLand Police Department at 386-626-7400.
