Deltona, FL - A company still to be named is the beneficiary of an almost $2.5 million incentive package unanimously approved by the Deltona City Commissioners during their regular meeting earlier this week. Chris Wimsatt, the vice-president of business development at Team Volusia, said that "Clearly, it's going to be a tax revenue generator but we think there's also going to be a number of secondary benefits. A project of this magnitude will certainly create complementary projects, those that cater to this facility as well as secondary projects that are similar."
Mayor Heidi Herzberg addressed some of the residents' concerns that there will be more than one business on the property because of the number of parking spaces, about 25-hundred, to be created. She said, "There's one project on this. Not restaurants, not multiple projects. Nothing has been changed from the original presentation or site plans presented in previous hearings." Herzberg also said that the city will benefit no matter the number of jobs created due to the ad valorem tax base
Though the City Commission approved the incentive package unanimously, 7-0, Herzberg said that during a meeting at 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, Commissioners will finalize the acceptance of all parties involved. She offered thanks to all that took part in bringing Project Normandy to fruition.
