Deltona Man Stabbed and Carjacked By Men He Gave Ride To

DELTONA, Fla. - A man from Deltona was stabbed in the arm and had his car stolen after apparently giving a ride to three men from DeLand. The trio convinced the victim to provide them with transportation in exchange for gas money.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, when Volusia Sheriff's deputies were called to the Winn-Dixie on Howland Blvd. The victim said he drove the three men to the store before saying he had to leave. One of them is then said to have reached forward from the back seat with a knife and held it to the victim's neck, puncturing his arm in the ensuing struggle.

The victim got out of the car, he said, before one of the men took control of it and drove it away. A Winn-Dixie employee helped him call 911. It wasn't long before VSO deputies and Daytona Beach Police officers located the vehicle and arrested 31 year-old Emmanuel Johnson after he allegedly tried to escape into the woods.

He's now charged with carjacking, aggravated battery, and grand theft of a motor vehicle. He's being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail on no bond.
