One month and two debates remain until the Presidential Election

Daytona Beach, FL - Data from the Florida Division of Elections shows that state Democrats have requested and returned more vote-by-mail ballots than Republicans almost a month before the Presidential Election

State Breakdown

As of Wednesday morning (September 30th), 5,189,614 ballots have been sent out in total, with 132,194 having been filled out and mailed back already.

A breakdown of the data shows Democrats outnumbering Republicans 2,389,681 ballots to 1,631,839 million. So far, 70,497 Democrat ballots have returned while only 36,196 Republican ballots returned.

Out of the 1.16 million ballots that remain, 1,104,739 No Party Affiliate (NPA) ballots were mailed out with 23,860 having been returned by Wednesday. 63,335 "Other" party ballots were sent out, only 1,641  have returned.

Local Breakdown

Combined, both Volusia and Flagler have had 186,269 mail-in ballots sent out. Of that, only 8,333 have returned. And, in both counties, the story seems to be the same as the state's with Democrats outnumbering Republicans.

VOLUSIA COUNTY
In Volusia County, 153,497 total ballots were sent out. That reflects a total of 63,328 Democrat ballots and 53,823 Republican ballots. Out of those ballots, 3,996 Democrat ballots have returned along with 2,437 Republican ballots.

A total of 34,223 NPA ballots were mailed, 1,510 have returned. And, out of the 2,123 "Other" party ballots sent out, only 124 have returned.

FLAGLER COUNTY
As for Flagler, 32,772 ballots were sent out. Out of those ballots, 14,273 Democrat ballots were sent along with 11,902 Republican ballots. Unlike Volusia and the rest of the state, however, Republicans outnumbered the Democrats when it came to ballots returned. That number was 137 to 89, respectively.

A total of 6,257 NPA ballots were sent out, with 34 returning. 340 "Other" party ballots were mailed, only six have returned.

Additional Observation

With the aforementioned data, some might suggest that the Democrats are starting to pull ahead of the GOP, giving the blue a chance in a state with a Republican led House and Senate.

Additional data from the Florida Division of Elections show the Democrats outnumbering the Republicans 5,203,795 to 5,020,199 when it comes to registered voters—as of August 31st.

However, even though we are about a month away from the Presidential Election, it's still too early to tell. If there is any prediction to make, it's that it will all come down to the wire.
