DeLand, FL - Detectives arrest a suspect in connection to remains found in DeLand last month and are now looking for a second perp.

Investigators were first alerted to the remains after a concerned citizen found them near North Summit Avenue back on February 29th.

The DeLand Police Department responded to the scene along with the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office. Later on, following an autopsy, investigators identified the deceased as 31-year-old David Franks.

After identifying the remains, further investigation revealed two suspects: 26-year-old Megan Robery and 27-year-old Xavier Alvarez, who will be charged with 2nd-degree murder, on top of other charges according to police.

Police say that Alvarez is currently residing in Fairfax County, Virginia. Once his location was found, detectives contacted the Fairfax County Police Department, who were familiar with his location.

After surveying his location, Alvarez was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service. He's currently housed in the Fairfax County Jail. DeLand Police Chief Jason Umberger says investigators are headed to Fairfax to question Alvarez.

Investigators are currently searching for Megan and need the public's help in finding her.
