Effort To Have Edgewater Utilities Investigated Fails - This Time

Edgewater, FL - An effort to get enough  petition signatures for an audit to be done on the City of Edgewater Public Works Department has failed - this time. That's according to Libby Lavette, who prepared and distributed the petition. She's an Edgewater resident and member of the Edgewater Environmental Alliance.

In a Facebook post, Lavette said, "I was actually encouraged that even with covid-19, over 500 hundred of you, people that I love and respect and miss greatly, did a great effort to get to the bottom of the utilities billing and quality issues in the City of Edgewater."

The goal, according to Lavette, was to get the issue on the General Election ballot this year in order  to avoid the extra cost of a special election.  To that end, in addition to the fact that we don't know when the COVID-19 pandemic might end, she says she will try again in 2022 if the city hasn't been able to resolve the issues by then.
