Daytona Beach, FL - An endowment has been established to honor Gloria and Ray Max for their work with the Jerry Doliner Food Bank, the School Backpack Project, and the Jewish Federation of Volusia & Flagler Counties. Local philanthropists Larry and Andrea Frank, have committed to matching the first $250,000 pledged to the endowment.
Someone Cares - An Endowment in Honor of Gloria and Ray Max has been established as an
endowment through Community Foundation, a division of the United Way. According to a press release from that organization, the Franks "have long admired the work of Gloria and Ray Max and sponsored their service of helping families in need of monetary assistance for emergency needs that put at risk the family’s housing, food security, medical, transportation and other critical needs."
"The goal is to build the endowment to $500,000 within its first year,” said Larry Frank. “At that level, the principal is projected to generate enough money to help 40 families or more annually forever.” The Franks and the Community Foundation have developed a model that will provide for continuity of services to help people with emergency needs that Gloria previously facilitated. The endowment fund will provide funding to continue their great work through local qualified charitable organizations in perpetuity.
According to the Community Foundation, this endowment provides a safe – efficient - impactful vehicle for other like-minded residents, community leaders, philanthropists, and corporate partners to join in growing the endowment to help families with their emergency needs in our community.
The Community Foundation is able to accept gifts to build the endowment and help
perpetuate the great work of Gloria and Ray Max. Gifts may include cash, stocks, IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions, life insurance, and real estate.
