Ormond Beach, FL - A 53-year-old Ormond Beach man is dead after, for an unknown reason, he drove his pickup off the highway into the woods. Florida Highway Patrol said the man was driving north on U.S. 1 just past Destination Daytona when the incident happened.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 1 were shut down for the entire afternoon drive after the accident was reported at 2:25 p.m.
FHP is investigating the cause of the incident.
