Father Lopez Student Charged With Making Threats Against School

Ormond Beach, FL - A senior at Father Lopez Catholic High School is charged with making threats against the school in videos posted online.

The arrest of Colin Boyer came on Monday (Feb. 7) after the Daytona Beach Police Department got a notice from the school that they received an email from a concerned student containing two videos. In one video, Boyer can be heard saying “I can have the gang, a whole bunch of people in cars, just pull up and then just shoot, just shoot up.”

In the other video, Boyer says “"News 13 going on, a school shooting at Father Lopez Catholic High School! Yet again, suspect is not to be found, I repeat, suspect is not found” before the video cuts out.

After Boyer was identified, the DBPD handed the case over to the Ormond Beach Police Department, who showed up at Boyer’s door around 7:10 that morning. During an interview with police, Boyer said he was having a bad day and had no intention of carrying out the threats. He added that he has a problem with a current school administrator who “comes at him,” per Boyer.

He has since been charged with written threats to kill, and he remains in the Volusia County Jail on no bond.
