FCSO: Fishers Find Body In Graham Swamp

Posted

Palm Coast, FL - Deputies respond to a swamp off of Old Kings Road after a group of fishers discover a dead body floating in the water.

Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) detectives eventually arrived on scene Monday morning (September 28th) to find what appeared to be the body of an African American male. Investigators were not able to promptly identify the male, as it appeared that he had been in the water for several days.

However, based on their preliminary investigation, investigators believe that the body could be 18-year-old Giovanne Sylvain, who was reported missing in Palm Coast on Sunday (September 27th).

Detectives have since been in contact with Sylvain's family, who have been cooperating with law enforcement.

As of right now, FCSO says there is no reason to believe foul play was involved, but investigators say "every lead will be investigated." But, until the body is properly identified, Sylvain will remain labeled as "missing" in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and the Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC).

“This is an ongoing investigation and we will update the community as soon as we can conclusively identify the deceased,” Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said in a prepared release. “Until that time we ask for the community’s patience while Detectives complete the investigation and keep the Sylvain family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Anyone with information regarding Slyvain's disappearance or the body located in Graham Swamp is asked to email the FCSO at tips@flaglersheriff.com or contact Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 313-4911.
