FCSO Investigating Weekend Commercial Thefts

Bunnell, FL - Flagler County Sheriff's deputies are investigating two job site burglaries that took place over the weekend.

Deputies responded to a site on Old Dixie Highway near East Avenue in Bunnell early Monday morning.  The construction supervisor told deputies that his crew left for the weekend at 3 a.m. on Friday. The power line trucks were left on site locked but keys were left inside the gas caps and it's believed the unknown suspect or suspects found the keys, then put them back. A worker grabbed the keys for that truck and contaminated the area for latent prints and DNA. The rainy weather over the weekend made it impossible to collect prints or DNA off of the vehicles themselves. The estimated value of the missing items is more than $10,000.

The other burglary happened at an FPL job site on U.S. 1  near Plantation Bay. Thieves stole several reels of copper line and an unknown amount of personal tools, climbing gear, chainsaws, and handtools. Deputies found that the suspect or suspects entered the property by cutting the rear fence. Because of the weekend weather, getting prints or DNA was not possible. In this case, a game camera had been set up and got a picture of a silver or light-colored SUV (possibly a Toyota 4-Runner) with a trailer attached.

FCSO says these cases might be related but at this time, that's not clear.  Anyone with information on either or both burglaries is asked to contact the Flagler County sheriff's Office.
