Federal Employee Pay Increase to $15

Federal employees are getting a pay raise this month! The Biden Administration has raised the minimum wage to $15/ hour for civilian workers in the federal government, effective January 30, 2022.

The minimum wage for federal employees right now is  $7.25 per hour. Federal employees that are currently paid below $15/hour work in the Departments of Agriculture, Defense, and Veterans Affairs. Not included in this wage increase are the U.S. Postal Service and the Postal Regulatory Commission. 

In total, these changes will impact 67,000 out of 2.2 million federal employees

Office of Personnel Management Director, Kiran Ahuja says the pay bump reflects the Biden-Harris Administration's appreciation for the federal workforce and values as a nation.

Other federal workers across the country that will benefit from the wage boost include wildland firefighters, plant protection technicians, custodial workers, and Defense Department employees at military bases around the U.S.
