Edgewater, FL - The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says troopers are investigating a fatal incident that claimed the life of a man early Wednesday morning.

According to a report from FHP, a 37-year-old Fort Pierce man was killed after a vehicle struck him on southbound I-95 near Edgewater, just north of Exit 244 for State Road 442.

Investigators say the man was standing in the middle of the interstate for an unknown reason when he was struck by a sedan driven by a 39-year-old Port Orange man. The deceased was then struck two other times by two pickup trucks, one driven by a 55-year-old Eustis man and the other driven by a 38-year-old Louisiana man.

The three drivers received no injuries.

As of 7:45 Wednesday morning, southbound I-95 remains closed as troopers continue to investigate the accident. We will pass along updates as they are made available.
