Daytona Beach, FL - First Step Shelter (FSS) is holding a fundraising event, "Walk A Mile For Another" and registration is now open. Executive Director Victoria Fahlberg says that the event is generously sponsored by Joan Campanaro and Mike Panaggio.
To take part, sign up at firststepshelter.org and get ready to complete your walk between May 21 and May 31, 2021. The entry fee for an individual is $20. For a team of four people, it's $75. There will be prizes for the top three fundraising individuals or teams.
“This will be the shelter’s first event since the pandemic and we believe that folks are ready to get their walking shoes on and support First Step,” said Victoria Fahlberg, First Step Shelter’s Executive Director. According to Mayor Derrick Henry, Chair of the First Step Shelter Board of Directors, “The work of First Step Shelter is vitally important to the community and we believe that working together we can reach our goal of raising $20,000 from the walkathon.”
FSS offers some suggestions for your fundraising efforts. Feel free to be creative with your fundraising strategies. Post to your social media and email your friends and family. Twenty $5.00 gifts will get you to $100 and twenty-five $10.00 will get you to $250.
At the conclusion of your walk, we’d love a post of you or your team telling us about how much you raised to help First Step residents progress along their path from homelessness to housing.
T-shirts are included with the sign-up. They'll be available on May 17 at a designated location (s) in the Daytona Beach area.
All proceeds go to help FSS residents.
