Orange City, FL - West Volusia County, especially the St. Johns River and University High School, will be featured during a film shoot that begins tomorrow. "Fishing University," which airs on three different channels, will feature bass fishing on the St. Johns, a 90-second promotional spot from the West Volusia Tourism Advertising Authority and a trip to University High School in Orange City.

Debra Talley, "Fishing University" vice president, said a major goal of the show is to educate teens about the importance of a career in the outdoors. She said the hope is to give the teens information about a career they hadn't considered previously. The hosts of the show, professional angler Charlie Ingram and industry veteran Ray Brazier, along with local guests, will talk about the journey that brought them to careers in the outdoors.

Talley also said that "Fishing University" is not just for tournament anglers, it's also for weekend anglers. She says the tourism feature and the 90-second spot from University High School also give tourists and teens useful information.

Show host Ray Brazier said he really looks forward to meeting the children at the school. He also said that he's excited to be getting on the water in an area that he says, has some of the best bass fishing in the world.

West Volusia County will be featured in two 30-minute episodes of "Fishing University" during the 2020 season. Talley said that "Fishing University" airs on three channels, the Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, and the World Fishing Network. It's been on the air for 33 years. She also said that this is the first time the show has filmed in Florida in two or three years.
