The Florida Behavioral Health Conference is set to take place in Orlando this week, and it’ll feature a speaking slot from one of the top leaders in Flagler County on the topics. Pam Birtolo, CEO of Flagler Open Arms Recovery Services (OARS) will be speaking at the event on the topic of constructing a recovery community organization.
During Birtolo’s remarks, she’s set to unpack the challenges and rewards of building up a network of support for community members who are recovering from substance abuse. In addition to Flagler OARS, Birtolo is also the CEO of Recover St. Johns County, an organization to the north with a similar mission.
The conference will be taking place in Orlando from Wednesday, August 21st to Friday, August 23rd. Birtolo’s session is titled ‘Building a Recovery Community Organization: The Fears, Tears, Jeers…and Cheers’. She’ll be present with some of the top professionals in the field of behavioral health across the state of Florida.
“I am honored to share our journey and the lessons we’ve learned along the way,” said Birtolo. “Building a Recovery Community Organization is not just about providing services; it’s about creating a space where individuals can find hope, connection, and a path to a better life.”
Flagler OARS offers a variety of services to individuals working to grow past the challenges of substance abuse. Their website provides resources for support groups, recovery housing, finding treatment, a directory of shelters, food assistance, clothing, and family & child care.
