Flagler Officials Open New CARES Applications, Asks For Patience

Bunnell, FL - Flagler County officials are urging residents to be patient as they reopen the application process for new CARES act applications—of which they're looking to accept about 1,700.

According to an email from the county, checks have been issued to applicants who applied on or before September 4th. Meanwhile, applications approved between September 4th and October 20th—which is when the process closed—are now in line for payment.

“We ask those people who already applied to please be patient. At the end of process we will approve 5,000 applications for a total of $5 million,” said Health and Human Services Director Joyce Bishop. “It is a complicated process with several layers of review for checks and balance, and it’s been slow going as we have received many duplicate applications and multiple applications from a single household.”

Officials are also asking residents to not reapply for the process. Anyone who has a "problematic" application will be contacted by the county via email (Look for CaresIAGrant@flaglercounty.org)

“Submitting repeat applications and requests for status updates slows the process down for everyone," said Bishop. “We understand that people are anxious to get their money, but we are asking you to trust the process."

New applicants should apply through the county's new application link, which you can find by clicking here. Applicants are also required to bring a Florida drivers license or a state-issued photo identification, and all of the bills being claimed—not just the last bill with the total amount due. Paper copies of the bills are also required.

Appointments are held off of Belle Terre Boulevard just south of the Tractor Supply Company store and Flagler Executive Airport. Follow signs to the entrance of the David I. Siegel Adult Day Care building.

“We appreciate residents’ patience as we work to get the funding out as quickly as we can,” Bishop said.
