Bunnell, FL - Halloween is tomorrow. And besides making sure that your costume is ready, the Flagler Sheriff wants to make sure you know whose house to avoid.

Since yesterday (October 29th), the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, along with Probation and Parole Services, have made visits to the homes of all registered sex offenders to verify addresses and to ensure they're following all the rules that come along with the holiday.

"Florida has different levels of sex offenders that are required to have no interaction with children on Halloween, not decorate for Halloween, not have lights on and not give out candy," Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said to News Daytona Beach.

Out of the 131 registered sex offenders living in Flagler County, 28 have to follow specific sanctions stating that they cannot decorate, hand out candy or leave their porch light on during Halloween.

Deputies and parole officers will visit the homes of those 28 on Halloween to make sure they're following those specific sanctions. Other sanctions say that the offenders must be in their homes by 4:30 p.m. and remain in their house for the rest of the night.

"We want to ensure that the community is aware of the sex offenders that live in Flagler," said Sheriff Staly. "We (also) want to make sure that these offenders remember the rules that they are now required to live under."

The operation will be managed by FCSO's new Sexual Offender and Predator Detective. This new position was funded by a $150,000 grant awarded to the Sheriff's Office by the Department of Justice.
