Flagler & Volusia Delay Fall Sports Until September

Bunnell, FL - Despite the Florida High School Athletic Association okaying August 24th as a start date for high school athletic practices, both Volusia and Flagler schools announce that they will be delaying the start of fall sports and practices until September.

Flagler will be the first to start practices on September 5th, with Volusia following close behind on September 7th. Volusia, however, has announced that their first regular season game will be played September 18th.

Flagler also announced that current conditioning programs will remain in place.

“I recognize the importance of athletics to many of our students and our community," said Flagler Schools Superintendent Cathy Mittelstadt. "But we need to ensure we are doing all we can do to provide a safe environment for all our students and staff, including our athletic programs.”

Volusia County also stated that any questions regarding schedules can be directed to the athletic director at the student’s school.
