Orange City, FL - Two fleeing suspects end up in the custody of the Volusia Sheriff's Office after their chase ends up on the wrong side of the road, leaving them stuck in traffic.

Deputies say the incident began around 4:15 Thursday afternoon (May 13) when a white Kia Optima fled from deputies during a narcotics operation in Deltona.

From there, the suspect made it to DeLand and tried to hide their car in a parking spot at the West Volusia Regional Shopping Center on South Woodland Boulevard. A deputy attempted another traffic stop there, but the suspect eventually fled again. This time, deputies backed off as Air One joined the chase and followed the suspects.

The suspect then traveled to Orange City via I-4, where they drove into the oncoming lanes of Saxon Boulevard.

Video from the chase shows the suspects continuing towards the intersection of Saxon and Veterans Memorial Parkway and almost hitting a vehicle that was making a left turn.

After almost hitting that car, the suspect vehicle drove in between cars that were stopped at the intersection and hit a couple of them before theirs was wedged against the stationary traffic. Both the passenger and driver bailed, but it didn't take long for deputies to find them and arrest them.

The driver, 23-year-old Ronnie Ross, was found to be on probation for a prior charge of battery in addition to the new charges he will face. The passenger, 27-year-old Keith Williams, was arrested on several active warrants on drug charges.

As of Friday morning (May 14), both Ross and Williams remain in custody at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
